ABOUT US
Turning Interest Into Action
Dealing with the challenges of today requires problem-solvers who bring different perspectives and are willing to take risks. The Church Alliance for Orphans ( CAFO) emerged out of a pursuit to inspire and support the community, and a desire for actions to speak louder than words. Established in 2002, we’re an organization driven by progressive ideas, bold actions, and a strong foundation of support when it was predicted that, due to the HIV/AIDS pandemic, Namibia would be faced with thousands of orphans. At the start, CAFO set out to support the efforts of churches to support orphans and vulnerable children and their families. The focus was on awareness raising, capacity building and income generation. Emphasis was placed on raising awareness in communities on the plight of orphans and vulnerable children. This was done through programs like the Journey of Life, psychosocial support training while kids clubs were started in communities and children were offered behaviour change groups. In the past few years the focus of the organisation has shifted somewhat to vulnerable young children and their families and early childhood development focusing on the services to pre-school children while also equipping their parents and guardians with parenting skills raising awareness in the community on the importance of early childhood development.
